Congrats Rhode Island STEAM Education Award Recipient

Michela Shalvoy is a seventh grade math teacher at Davisville Middle School in North Kingstown. She is a graduate of Boston College who got her start in education at the Steppingstone Foundation and De La Salle Middle School. Michela has been greatly inspired to incorporate elements of art, culture, and engineering into her math lessons after participating in a STEM study tour in Germany through the Transatlantic Outreach Program. She is also the 2019 recipient of RIMLE’s Promising Practitioner award. When Michela is not teaching, she enjoys taking dance classes and caring for her two cats.

Doug Rademacher, lead computer science and information technology teacher at the Met School in Providence, Rhode Island has been named the recipient of the 2020 CS4RI/CSTA-RI Computer Science Education Award.  The award recognizes an educator who demonstrates a strong commitment to computer science education in their schools, districts, and communities.  Doug was selected through a competitive process that was open to all full-time, licensed K-12 teachers in Rhode Island who have at least 3 years of experience teaching and 1 year of computer science teaching.
